Boot Box Jury

Sorry, I couldn't resist it! - The Boot box Returns ….But

cracked boot box Drilling the roll over bar mounting holes

New Boot Box
The new boot box arrived a few days ago. Examining the boot box in sunlight revealed a crack in the gel coat, running from the LHS where the corner had been trimmed out. Looking along the boot box from the crack, showed the gel coat was crazed back to the LHS interior corner.  The boot box had to go back to Westfield again.

Roll over Bar
Following our disappointment with the boot box we turned our attention to fitting the roll over bar.  The bodywork had been clamped in place a while ago. We rechecked  the position of the roll over bar, re-marked the fixing bolt positions and drilled the pilot holes.  Andrew had obtained a 8mm stepped drill to cut away the fibreglass panel then opened out the hole with a tapered parallel hole cutter, finally finishing off with a 12mm drill.  Offering up the roll over bar. we needed to open out the holes slightly, to get a good fit.

Underneath the Arches?
Returning the boot box back to Westfield will cause a delay. Thus we had decided to see if we could improve the fit of the rear wheel arches. They weren't bad, but we felt they could be improved. Our experience with the scuttle had given us the confidence to adjust as necessary the mounting blocks.  We removed the LHS wheel arch hand adjusted the fit of rear mounting block and opened out the holes for the bolts slightly. The end product was a better fit. We removed the RH rear wheel arch and filed the mounting blocks, and corresponding sockets to improve the fit, the same as we had done for the LHS.  We Fitted "P" clips to the wheel arch join to tidy up and secure the rear light wiring.
