Boot Box 1

Trial fit Boot Box and Rollover Bar.

Boot lid and boot boxes

We had decided to fit a long-range tank after we had ordered the start up kit. This requires a new boot box, which we had  collected at the same time as the LR tank. We got the original boot box, the LR boot box, lockable boot lid, and nose cone out of the garage roof.  There was an immediate notice able difference in the two boot boxes. The LR box had cutouts for the roll over bar but not for the seat belt turrets. The ordinary box had turret cut outs but not for the roll over bar.  We measured and carefully cut out the slots for the turrets.  We made a quality job of fitting the boot box around the turrets and then we found that the shape of the back of the boot box was not compatible with our body (ZK bodywork).  The curvature and shape was too wide.  There is no possibility of modifying this.   (See Below).

We moved on to trial fitting of the roll over bar. Why were we not surprised to find the roll over bar did not fit? It was 3mm too wide (see below) also the chromium plating was scratched. It looked like we were going to be busy talking to Westfield on Monday

We found out when we spoke you Westfield that it is necessary to spread the body sides to get the roll bar to fit.   We did not know this, and it is not mentioned in the build manual.  Unless you are told, it is natural that you would not want to force the body apart, adding to the stresses in the body. Well that’s our excuse!    It was scratched so we were going to change it anyway.   The boot box problem was easily fixed, Westfield agreed to make a new LR boot box compatible with the ZK bodywork
